The MIP offers a unique blend of hands-on experience, mentorship and strategic insights, positioning you at the forefront of the electric cooperative industry. Seize this opportunity to become a member of a group of more than 1,400 MIP alumni!

MIP participants engage in real-life scenarios, honing their decision-making abilities and strategic thinking within the context of electric cooperatives. The program also provides invaluable mentorship, connecting you with seasoned experts. Participants leave MIP with an expanded network of new professional colleagues.

By Attending This Program You Will be Able To:

  • Identify a strategic network planning framework to apply at your organization for future success and growth.

  • Identify and gain a strong understanding of the multiple functional areas within electric cooperative organizations and develop a holistic appreciation of your organization.

  • Identify key roles and responsibilities associated with executive level leadership and demonstrate those skills through course exercises and assignments.

  • Identify your leadership and management style and recognize strengths and improvement areas to reach the best version of yourself.

  • Listen and discuss current challenges and successes facing electric cooperatives with a network of classroom peers.


The MIP Certificate is Earned By:

  • Active class participation by attending all in-person and online courses (see below for the curriculum and course schedules).

  • Completing all pre-work, in-class individual and group assignments.

  • Completing a final MIP project and presenting to your cohort on your project purpose and outcome.

Who Should Participate

New CEOs/general managers, CFOs, COOs, vice presidents, and senior leaders in, or aspiring to, a co-op or distribution G&T senior leadership role.


HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM
  • Registration will open twice a year for the MIP. $6,750 is due at the time of registration. $6,750 is due 10 days prior to the start of the course. Invoicing is not available.

    • Registration for Groups #1 & #2: Registration is now closed.

    • Registration for Groups #3 & #4 will open July 16, 2024, at 2 p.m. ET.

  • When you enter the MIP, you will join a group (i.e., Group 1, 2, 3, or 4) and stay with the same cohort throughout the program. Review the schedules carefully and register with the one group that works the best for you.

  • To retain a collegial and focused environment, the program is limited to 120 participants a year. Information on the cancelation policy can be found here. After the dates listed in the cancellation policy, no refunds will be issued. Due to the high demand of the program, transferring of course registrations within your cooperative is not available.

  • Onsite portions of the MIP are held at the Fluno Center for Executive Education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. This executive training facility offers NRECA members a dynamic learning experience in a professional environment. Discounted lodging at the Fluno Center is available for $159/day and $15/day for parking. Rates for hotel and parking are subject to change.

  • Registrants will receive complete orientation information 6-8 weeks before their program starts, including the links to register for the NRECA MIP hotel block.

The MIP curriculum has been designed specifically for today’s aspiring senior electric cooperative leader. The content in this program is not available in any other NRECA leadership program.

Fees

The 6-week immersive NRECA Management Internship Program is $13,500 per participant and includes:

  • All course materials and classroom instruction. Course materials continue to be available to participants after the class via the Learning Management System (LMS) on cooperative.com.

  • Full breakfast each day at the Fluno Center.

  • Daily morning and afternoon snacks with beverages during classroom hours.

  • Discounted participant lodging at the Fluno Center or nearby hotel.
